North of Mendoza are the Provincial Park Ischigualasto and National Park Talampaya. The latter I did not visit because you can only go there with guided tours but the former was quite interesting.
Dinosaur Museum
Ischigualasto is an area where the formation of the Andes mountains unearthed soil from the Triassic age. Many Triassic dinosaur skeletons have been found over the years in this area.
The sanjuanosaurus. Named after the region of Argentina where it was found.
Skeleton of a Saurosuchus
Three Eoraptor skeletons. They look big in the picture but they are actually not taller than 40cm.
In the dinosaur museum there, you could see all the different dinosaur skeletons that they found there.
Valle de la Luna
I was lucky; when I arrived it was during a full moon period. In the 4 days around full moon there is a guided tour of the park at 22:30 where you drive into the park with your car and explore a moon-like landscape by foot.
While I was waiting two desert foxes lurked around the edges of the car park.
